Ganbare!
Here is a Japanese word that doesn’t have good translation English words. Ganbare! é ‘å¼µã‚Œ or ãŒã‚“ã°ã‚Œ . According to goo on-line dictionary, it is translated as Hold out!/ Chin up! You say this to people who needs your support, or mainly athlete in action. Like when you see a Japanese guy in Boston marathon, people yell at him, “ganbare~!”
There is a old Japanese punk song that I used like, written and played by the band, The Blue Hearts, called Be Nice (Hito Ni Yasashiku)and it goes like this
Boku wa itsudemo / Uta o utau toki wa / MAIKUROFON no naka kara / GANBARE’tte itte iru / Kikoete hoshii / Anata ni mo / GANBARE!
Translated
For me, Every-time / When I’m singing a song / From inside my microphone / I’m saying GANBARE (Hang in there!) / I hope you can hear it / I say to you / GANBARE!
Other words that doesn’t translate well into English is Natukashii. but that is a whole other entry.
