Stupid is as stupid does

So, Did you know May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month? There is even a festival. With Jet Li, no less. So Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month to all of you.

A bit of an old news but Craig Carton and Rich Rossi, also known as Jersey Guys made an stupid racist comment on the radio toward Edison (NJ) Mayer candidate Jun Choi. (Hello? Haven’t those Shock-Jocks learned anything from Miss Jones’Tsunami song” incident?)
Here is a quote from Craig Carton:

And here’s the bottom line… no specific minority group or foreign group should ever ever dictate the outcome of an American election. I don’t care if the Chinese population in Edison has quadrupled in the last year, Chinese should never dictate the outcome of an election, Americans should. (You can read the whole transcript here and hear the audio here.)

Asian Americans, or other Minority Americans contribute as much to the community and have every right for his/her own vote. And to paraphrase Choi that is exactly what makes this country great: the son of immigrants like Choi can run for office. And people ultimately will vote for the issues not the race or skin color of the candidate. And some people just have to give up “Americans = white people” idea. Just thought of a scene from
Warren Beatty’s movie, Bulworth, where his character (who is in love with Halle Berry’s character) says “We have to eliminate white poeple… Blacks, Whites, Yellows, Reds, we should all sleep with each other and in the end we’ll all be one same color…”
