Reasons I support Sam Yoon
As I have written before, Sam Yoon is a candidate for Boston City Councilor At-Large. There are 4 at-large councilors: Michael Flaherty (President), Felix D. Arroyo, Maura Hennigan (update: she is running for Mayor), and Stephen J. Murphy. Other challengers include Matt O’Malley, John Connolly, Patricia White. Primary is in September, actual election is in November, and the election is held every two years (odd years, though there is a talk of four-year terms).
Reason I like Sam Yoon: His two focus aligns with mine. Education: having taught in urban public school (in NJ) he is knowledge he is keen about high-cost/high-rent issues in Boston. I know I am not the only one when I say “Boston’s rent is ridiculous (I am not even talking about buying…)” and he has a good idea. Or at least he knows the issue and can explain what the problem is in plain language… that is his “math teacher” and “housing director at the Asian Community Development Corporation” combined, what a combination.
Besides, he and his wife just had a baby girl, Naomi. he must not have had sleep in the while with campaigning, working and being a dad! Go, Sam.
Also there was a bit old (December 2004) but great article by Adrian Walker of the Boston Globe.
