Mike Honda

this is a bit old news, but when Dems selected Howie Dean for its chairman, Rep. Mike Honda, house representative of the 15th Congressional District of California, was also selected as a Vice Chairman of the party. He is the first Asian Pacific American Vice Chair of any political party according to Asian Pacific Americans for Progress. This is a good thing. His voting record etc. can be viewed at Project Vite Smart’s page. Here is Democtarts site on Honda and he is also a vice chair of Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

I just realized I didn’t blog about Robert Matsui at all (hwne I did search on this blog), and what a shame! Perhaps Robert Matsui is the most influential Japanese American civil rights guy of all time. He passed away this new years day. Related links here, washington post, SacBee(registration required), Vote Smart. Both men Matsui and Honda were little baby through internment camp during the WWII.

While I was diging some of this stuff, I bumped into Democratic Underground.com. Yes, its very “liberal” (since when this become dirty word?) and confrontational, but read with the bias glasses on, it is pretty interesting stuff.

On the completely not related note: See Japanese police run away. What happened to the good old days when all Japanese police had black belt in Judo?
