Sam Yoon

There was a story in today’s Globe called Asian-Americans boost Yoon’s war chest. Sam Yoon is a running candidate for an at-large seat on the Boston City Council next November.
More related stories from Sampan (Nnew England’s Only Chinese-English Newspaper): Sam Yoon: Entering the Race, and Observers Weigh in on Yoon’s Run for Council. If elected, he will be the first Asian councilor in the city’s history. I guess he is the director of housing at the Asian Community Development Corporation, who is working on affordable housing iissues.

It’s about time we’ll have Asian guy in city’s legislative body. I support this man.

Yes, it’s quite important to grow “legal” (political and legislative) influence of Asian thoughts and rights to the society. I support ‘your’ idea. :)

Yes, it’d be cool, but I sure hope he comes up with a better reason to vote for him than the simple fact that he’s Asian-American - and I really wish the Globe and other papers would tell us why he’s running *besides* that fact. Andrea Cabral’s election showed people are willing to go beyond ethnicity if the candidate has other qualifications (imagine: She even won West Roxbury).
