The sound of music

I have been running my home made radio station with stremsicle for a while now. But I am still unable to play the same music that is playing from my computer on my stereo system in the living room. I have very nice mission speakers that audio snobs would want… I once was one… it has very nice warm sound for Clasical and Jazz music… but too loud/mid-toney for TV (especially sports events!) and sadly enough, that is really only thing that I use those speakers for those days. Amp that I am using is Kenwood KR-A5080, and when I split the sound source from my computer, then using extension cord for regular 1/8th inch audio cable from RadioShack to connect to the amp, it produce a very loud humming noise. I am suspecting this is to do with grounding problem. It is very frustrating…

I know I won’t be able to get really good sound since I am using mp3 file systems, which appearantly loses a lot of digital info unlike lossless technology like Apple’s AAC … someday (soon) my huge collection of mp3s would be just a bunch of crappy sounding junk. Oh well. What are you going to do?
