Branford Marsalis
Last night we saw Branford Marsalis and his quartet at the Reggata. Branford Marsalis - Soprano and Tenor Saxophones, Joey Calderazzo - Piano, Eric Revis - Bass, and Jeff “Tain” Watts - Drums. Man they were good. Though it was not the hummable jazz, was very entertaining. They played Gloomy Sunday, Laker’s Loss, Don’t mean a thing (It was really cool, we should try that…), among others. I don’t know if it is true but he said Gloomy Sunday was once called “Hungarian Suicide Song.” And here is the lyrics of Gloomy Sunday. It was one of the better show I have seen, no question about it.
