This makes me laugh every time. “Nippon-Ham Fighters” is the name of baseball team in Japan, not Ham-Fighters. Anyway, Fighters are moving this off season to Hokkaido and with that, they did some radical logo redesign and with that, uniform and mascot redesign. It looks pretty cool. NY Times has a good story about it: Hamming It Down in Japan. I’ve always thought it looked silly to have funny cartoon characters as baseball team’s logo. My team, very cool name, Chunich Dragons has a logo that looks like this. What the heck is that blue thing? No wonder the sale of MLB merchandise is going up and up but nobody wants to buy NPB (thats “Nippon Pro Baseball”) merchandise. I was looking for dragons baseball cap last time I was in Japan, but no such luck. Anyway, Good for new Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. They now have signed ex-Mets/Giants Tsuyoshi Shinjo and playing in new Sapporo Dome. Good luck for them.
