Red Hat software

One more improvement on my Red Hat. I was finally able to get Xine to install. In order to do that, I installed APT and synaptic. By performing command like apt-get update,
apt-get check,
apt-get install xine, or
apt-get install synaptic
you can easily install/update new rpms. Synaptic will add GUI to that. It is way too easy. I might even say it is easier than Red Hat Network. So now I can play mpeg or avi movies. now you, too, can watch Japanese dudes in fig leaves dancing on your linux box. Singing “it’s so -oh- easy… happy go -oh- lucky…”

But I noticed that I was unable to mount dvds on Red Hat 9. On Red Hat 8, it automatically detected if the inserted disk was CD or DVD and mounted it to right /mnt/ directory. Now if I stick DVD on my drive, and it mounts it as /dev/cdrom and xine couldn’t read it. Mmmmm…
