Three movies in three nights

Spirited Away, The Triplets of Belleville, and Lord of the Rings: Two Towers. I didn’t know anything about it, except that it was nominated for Oscars, but The Triplets was awesome! French movie but no subtitle needed. Visually and musically it was super entertaining. Cool, jazzy, artistic, beautiful, and funny. Really one of the best [...]

It’s cold!

I’ve lived here in Massachusetts for past 12 years or so, and I have not experienced cold winter like this one(weather)! Unbelievable. Saw the movie The Station Agent. Didn’t know anything about it, but it was good. Very good likable characters. Light, funny, makes you think a bit, a feel good movie. This weekend is [...]

Big Fish

Saw Tim Burton’s Big Fish last night. Overall, I liked it, but because I liked it so much, I wanted it to be much much better. I can’t explain it. I loved the mood, message that it try to send, the cast, and the photography, but I wanted more, darn it!! I know I don’t [...]

The Last Samurai

We saw The Last Samurai and it was what I thought it would be like and much much more. I was afraid I had expected too much, but it was really good. “Katsumoto” played by Ken Watanabe, is not a real figure in the history but is loosely based on Takamori Saigo‘s life. The Emperor [...]

Light Romantic Comedy

I saw Love Actually. Very light comedy about romance in different situations. Kinda nice, and kinda funny. Nice website, too. Definitely not Kill Bill.

Lost in Translation

I saw Lost In Translation last night. It was good, maybe a bit over hyped, but still a very good movie. Sort of Punch Drunk Love like, Wang Kar-Wai (imdb/allmovie) like, tells a lot by not saying much. “For a relaxing time, Make it a Suntory Time” — Bob Harris.

Romantique

Went to see Romantique. It was good. I forgot how much I love Chopin. I bought my first Chopin CD in Japan, I must been like 15 or 16. It was “volume number 3″ of series called “The Great Composers.” Of course, I knew nothing about Chopin when I bought it. The pianist is Vladimir [...]

Hoop Hall?

Manny hits two run homer and Sox are now leading 6-2. It’s Midnight and I am still watching TV. West coast games really screws up my sleeping schedule.Went to the Basketball Hall of Fame today. It was much better than what some people warned me. Actually it was very good. I had great time. There [...]

Romantique/JPRS/NECW

I am going to see a play called Romantique this Sunday. This is a new play by Hershey Felder, the same guy who did George Gershwin Alone, which I dare say was the best show I have ever seen. I’m pretty excited about it. Now you can register .jp domain throw Japan Registry Service. You [...]

Like Beckham

I saw Bend it like Beckham. I went to see it without knowing what that was, right before the movie I learned that David Beckham is a soccer player. I had no idea. I don’t even like soccer, but the movie was excellent. Good photography/editing and interesting story, which was maybe somewhat predictable, but the [...]
