Masahiro Tanaka of Rakuten Golden Eagles did not start the tournament right, but is now getting much better… Championship likely hinge on him.

Oh, World Baseball Classic. Not alot of people are paying attention, but I am.

Starting March 2, at Fukuoka’s Yafuoku Dome, Team Japan started playing the tournament. This week, there were four games that I Live-tweeted, all of them started at 5 am in Eastern time. Well, actually I was sleeping through most of Taiwan game. I was going to not tweet about it and watch the whole thing in right sequence using DVR, but I brokedown and watched the end of it live, so I finally tweeted starting in the 9th inning.

  • Sat, Mar 2, 5:00 AM Japan 5, Brazil 3
  • Sun, Mar 3, 5:00 AM Japan 5, China 2
  • Wed, Mar 6, 5:00 AM Cuba 6, Japan 3
  • Fri, Mar 8, 5:00 AM Japan 4, Chinese Taipei 3

I am keeping the reverse chrono order style:

Friday, March 8: Japan 4, Taiwan 3

Highlight video

  • But that was huge to win this game. I hate to face Cuba in the eliminating game. Still can't believe Netherlands beat them, 6-2. 10:52:45, 2013-03-08
  • Hirokazu Ibata's 9th inning RBI single was huge. He is now my favorite Dragon. I'll look for his jersey when we go visit my folks in April. 10:50:23, 2013-03-08
  • This team Japan is playing some great game –not giving up till the end– but bad for my stomach. 10:48:04, 2013-03-08
  • Double play to end the game! Japan win. Win is a win is a win. Phew! #WBC 10:45:24, 2013-03-08
  • Kao Chih-Kang and Chang Chien-Ming singles after 1 out in bottom 10th of Toshiya Sugiuchi. Sending positive thoughts to Tokyo. 10:39:38, 2013-03-08
  • Getting the jobs done! Sakamoto with nice sac bunt, then Sho Nakata with a sac fly, good enough for Japan to be up 4-3 in the top 10th. #WBC 10:22:48, 2013-03-08
  • Taiwan vs Japan, bottom 9th, tied at 3, 2 outs runners on first and second. Makita strikes out Lin Chih-Sheng. Going extra innings. #WBC 10:08:52, 2013-03-08
  • Wait, my schedule wrong? I had Pool A runner-up ve Pool B winner at 10 p.m. tonight on my calendar, but did Japan pushed back to prime time? 21:02:56, 2013-03-07
  • @HeartTek They reuse a lot of the official account, but does lots more original stuff, trivia and TV info in Japan, stuff like that. in reply to HeartTek 10:48:30, 2013-03-06

  • OK, I see. Thanks They are winning and home team so they won't bat bottom 9th. Doh. Thanks for clarification. @lovelovemarines in reply to lovelovemarines 11:04:12, 2013-03-05
  • Why am I hearing that Korea is eliminated? If they score 5 runs they could still advance, no? It's next to impossible, but am I wrong? 11:01:03, 2013-03-05
