Finally baseball season is near. Nomar Garciaparra retirement was one of more exciting news this week. I really liked him. He was one of the brightest spot of the otherwise dark Red Sox era. Nomar and Pedro (Martinez) in 1999 was probably the best pitcher/hitter combo in the team that I rooted for in my life.

Nomar Garciaparra signs one day contract with the Sox, then retires. Steven Senne/AP

  • Boston Globe's Ryan/Shaughnessy, good/bad duel column coverage on Nomar is really clever. Good read. http://flic.kr/p/7JXR98 #
  • Good! Contract talks between #RedSox & RHP Josh Beckett progressing w/growing optimism via @SI_JonHeyman http://bit.ly/c4XEVu #
  • Press conference and interview RT @TangandZo: listen to interview with Nomar Garciaparra earlier today on 98.5FM http://bit.ly/ajJqWy #
  • Watching NESN's 5/10/99 game replay, it just hit me. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT WAS 10 YEARS AGO! #
  • @toeingtherubber also saw a lot of Frank Costillo games since my Japanese friends only went to games started by Pedoro or Nomo in 01! :) in reply to toeingtherubber #
  • @toeingtherubber I went to Northeastern and used to get half off ticket from scalpers after 2nd innings… in reply to toeingtherubber #
  • @CMSBMatty I know! Waaaay Back! He played in Japan twice, 2002 with Yomiuri Giants and last year with Seibu Lions. Was released in October. in reply to CMSBMatty #
  • Amazing how empty Fenway was in 99. Current sellout streak started in 03. I went to a lot of game back then. Esp. '01, when Nomo was here. #
  • Watching NESN's 5/10/99 SEA-BOS, pre-monster seat Fenway. John Wasdin is pitching for #RedSox before he went to Japan (Yomiuri in '02) #
  • Thank you! Awesome! RT @toeingtherubber: If you have NESN turn it on now. Showing the 5/10/99 game. Nomar with 3HRs 2 grand slams! #RedSox #
  • Garciaparra's first name is his father's name, Ramon, spelled backwards. Maybe I'll name my son Ogiad? Nah. #fb #
  • Watching Roy Halladay in Phillies uniform vs ex-Dragons Kenshin Kawakami on MLB.tv. Baseball season is almost here! #
  • Tomo Ohka (remember him?) agreed to a deal with Mexican League team Quintana Roo Tigers. Another Japanese leaves/can't make MLB, that's 5. #
  • Yankees Manager Joe Girardi says ”Kei Igawa still has a chance of making the roster — as does anyone in a uniform." http://nyti.ms/dvpBDu #
  • Borges on Matsuzaka: So WBC MVP and unhittable, he’s out of shape. But barely throws 58 pitches, everybody’s happy. http://bit.ly/dqzUil #

  • Welcome…

...to Daigo’s Daily Digital Diorama. This is utterly useless online journal (yes, that was what it was originally called before term "blog") that I've been keeping since 2002. Since it is ".org," my wife once called it a nonprofit nonsense. I use this blog mostly about baseball, and being Japanese man in America. Wondering who the heck Daigo is?
