It is almost midnight and I am sitting at my work computer. 2010 is year of “Tiger” in Oriental Zodiac. They say that the “toshi-otoko” (a man who’s zodiac matches that years’) or “toshi-on’na” (a woman…) will have a good year, because it only comes once in twelve year cycle of zodiac. Perhaps, I will. This year was not easy, with my company was threatened to close, Sox losing in the first round of playoff, and my shoulder surgery, which I am still slowly recovering from. But it was also a good year as I was able to go see World Baseball Classic in San Diego (very lucky to have such understanding wife) and witnessing second world title for Japanese team, and Ichiro making history with 9th consecutive year of 200 hits. I was just reading that Yu Darvish, RHP of Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters was also born on year of “Tiger” meaning he is 12 years younger than me, and made me feel pretty, uh, old. Not in a bad way… Come to think of it, my dad, who was 24 when he had me is also year of Tiger, and our second child who is in my wife’s belly now is also going to be a Tiger. That is kind of cool.
A happy new year to every one and hope it is a good one.
