New years resolution never works, and I am not going to make one. Except that I will try to get most out of everyday. I just found my doctor’s note from last year. Exactly a year ago, 1/7/08. Interestingly enough, I weigh exactly the same last year about this time (I gained tons in’08 w/Sciatica and then lost little, and then gained again with my shoulder surgery… I know excuses…). So, all the “instructions” from my doctor from then still stands, except only I am a year older. My BMI is 29.89, which is 0.11 away from being “Obesity-Grade I” (I am barely standing on the side of “Overweight”). Yikes, I know. Here are my doctor, Dr. Kim’s instruction from a year ago.
- East a large serving of vegetable twice each day. Eat two fruit each day. When possible, choose whole grain bread, pasta and brown rice (YUCK!) over white bread, pasta and rice. Avoid fast food.
- Take 1000 mg of calcium. Such as Milk, OJ, yogurt, collard greens or kale, soy beans. Take 800-1000 units of vitamin D.
- Get regular exercise. Moderate intensity exercise at least 30 min. per day for 5 or more days per week. My target heart rate is (220 – 35(age)) x70% = 129.5.
Already then.
