Welcome…
...to Daigo’s Daily Digital Diorama. This is utterly useless online journal (yes, that was what it was originally called before term "blog") that I've been keeping since 2002. Since it is ".org," my wife once called it a nonprofit nonsense. I use this blog mostly about baseball, and being Japanese man in America. Wondering who the heck Daigo is?

My new home server
I just ordered a new machine! This will be my new linux server. Yes! I haven’t bought a computer in years. It’s pretty awesome.
Here’s the spec:
I’ll use my old graphic card from one of the machines that I am not using, and total comes to $476.24. Not bad for a computer with its CPU speed three times the other ones and HD more than double the size. My goal was around $400 but… oh well.
So my next question is what OS am I going to load on this. Now, I LOVE Fedora. I’ve been using Red Hat family since Red Hat 7J era, (that’s J for Japanese version) – remember Japanese Language Kit for Mac OS? that wasn’t that long ago. Back then, instead of paying apple extra $200 for JLK, it was more attractive to install Linux, with which you can use Japanese language right out of the box. Anyway, I could keep installing Fedora family every time the new Core versions gets released. Or I could switch to Debian or FreeBSD. Or suck it up and pay for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which is a lot of money, so probably not.
With installer like MEPIS Linux Debian net installer, it may be easier now to get Debian install. But I had such bad experience in the past that I can’t make that leap just yet…
