Protests for Republican National Convention

CSMonitor has Photo Gallery and Blog: Nice day for a protest on this subject. I will be working nights this week because of the RNC and am kind of looking forward to it. I am becoming a bit of political junky!

The sound of music II

I just read a really interesting article regarding ground loop problem caused by computer and AV equipment. So hard wiring may not work… Apple AirTunes? I wish, its $129! I guess I should start looking for cheap “audio isolators” but no idea what that looks like or how much they cost… Speaking of music, I [...]

The sound of music

I have been running my home made radio station with stremsicle for a while now. But I am still unable to play the same music that is playing from my computer on my stereo system in the living room. I have very nice mission speakers that audio snobs would want… I once was one… it [...]

Moving is complete

Welcome to my new site. I’ve become an non-profit organization (dot org)… As my wife puts it is — non-profit-nonsense. That’s fine… Yes it looks different and it will continue to evolve, but the biggest change is the back-end. I have abandoned Movable Type and started to use WordPress. Everyone has their own reasons: Eric [...]

Japan-China relations

A friend forwarded me this url… Asian rivalry on display at soccer cup. I also remembered reading a commentary piece in the Monitor called Japan, China Need to Chill Out which mentions prime minster visiting Yasukuni Shrine (which by the way is a bit out of proportion). It is a tough issue but something that [...]

Under the down under…

Doh! Japanese Baseball Team lost to Australia in the Olympics semi…. This is a heart breaker… Really. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched really well, but lost 0-1. Word is that (I am sure this is a biased report) Australia was concentrating in meeting Japan in Semi – instead of Cuba, so they didn’t care about the game [...]

Good music vs good marketing

OK So I think I am convinced that I want to buy a cd (or even both of them) by Jamie Cullum. I hear that song “All at sea” here and there on the radio and always sort-of-liked it. It’s the media hype that kept me away from him. That he is the next Harry [...]

No Formatting Please!

I noticed that WordPress adds <br /> and <p></p> tags to the posts. I don’t want that! This is caused by wpautop. So I wrote an embarrassingly simple plugin, which does just that: disable wpautop. Inspired by Dirk’s Mime plugin. Here is a link to how to use WordPress Plugins. WordPress Plugin: noformats.php <?php /* [...]

Judo

it is funny how you remember certain things. I joined and went to a Judo practice at Newton Judo first time in 5 years. And I had a good time. Two things that I remembered that I should not forget: Training in three aspect 心 SHIN, 技 GI, and 体 TAI, that is Mind, Technique, [...]
